bullet Brief Biography:

Qingfeng He is a Software Architect / Consulting R&D Engineer in the Industrial Software Systems department at ABB Inc. US Corporate Research Center in Raleigh, NC. He has been with ABB since 2005 after he graduated from NC State University with a Ph.D. in Computer Science. Qingfeng’s primary research interests are focused on developing, evaluating and applying methods, tools, and best practices to enhance the overall qualities of software intensive systems, with a special focus on performance and maintainability. To that end, he has been mainly working in the areas of requirements engineering, software architectures, and performance engineering in the past several years.

Qingfeng has a lot of practical experiences in software engineering and domain experiences in SCADA and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). He has worked on analyzing, architecting, designing, and improving several complex industrial software systems, including Network Manager - EMS/DMS/BMS/GMS and System 800xA. Qingfeng is a Software Engineering Institute (SEI) certified Software Architecture Professional and Architecture Tradeoff Analysis Method (ATAM) Evaluator.

Qingfeng has published many technical papers about his research and experiences. He is a member of the ACM, the IEEE and IEEE Computer Society. He is a collaborator of the Agile Teams and a senior collaborator of The Privacy Place.

Qingfeng has worked on analyzing, architecting, designing, and improving several complex industrial software systems. He has a lot of knowledge and experiences on SCADA and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for electrical, manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, water, oil & gas industries. He has worked on several ABB products, which contribute over 2 billion US dollars to ABB’s revenue annually.

Qingfeng’s current research interests focus on:

  • Software engineering in general, with special focus on requirements engineering and software architecture
  • Software performance engineering
  • Parallel programming for multi-core systems
  • SCADA and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)

In the past, Qingfeng has also worked in the following areas:

  • Rule-based intelligent systems
  • Information security and privacy
