book: Geekonomics

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

This book on software quality and security just shot to the top of my wish list, plus I think I will buy a few copies for geek friends as holiday gifts: Geekonomics: The Real Cost of Insecure Software

Perhaps it will become a (the?) blockbuster that will finally motivate change in the software industry.

book: On Intelligence

this book was mentioned in a meeting today by a EE (power systems guy) who recommends it highly … thought I’d pass it along:

On Intelligence: How a New Understanding of the Brain will Lead to the Creation of Truly Intelligent Machines (ebook, hardcopy)

book: An Unused Intelligence

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

I am currently reading the book An Unused Intelligence by Andy Bryner and Dawna Markova. It’s a insightful book which addresses questions like:

  • How do you manage job stress and change the ways of thinking that contribute to it?
  • How do we create trust and support on the job when everything keeps changing?
  • How do we establish mutual respect for diverse needs in the workplace?
  • How do we find personal intent and shared vision in the distraction of day-to-day work challenges?
  • How do we get more effective results using fewer resources?
  • How do we perceive the whole instead of just thinking about how we can survive individually?

Using your physical intelligence will help you answer those questions. Ultimately, it is a book about how you explore and act on the callings of your soul. It is about simultaneously benefiting yourself and the world of which you are a part.
