Jan has 25+ years experience of developing software. He has had various positions as software developer, project manager, quality manager, process manager, local site manager, consultant, and researcher. Jan currently works at ABB Corporate Research in Sweden.
Jan believes in the importance of empowering individuals and teams. Directed actions need to be expressions of the teams themselves, not edicts from above or expert-driven solutions. Software development cannot be successful without motivated people. He is interested in both the technical and human sides of software development.
Jan is a SEISM-trained PSPSM (Personal Software ProcessSM) Instructor and TSPSM (Team Software ProcessSM)) Coach .

Jan has collaborated with his Agile Teams teammate, Karen Smiley, on several papers, including “Aligning TSPSM with the ABB Business Decision (”Gate”) Model“, “TSP-EF Proposal: A Team Software ProcessSM Evaluation Framework“, and 
“Using a ‘TSPSM Evaluation Framework’ to Measure TSPSM/PSPSM Compliance“.
Jan recieved the “Mission of the Year” in 2010. This is an award that has been established to stimulate the business operations at ABB Corporate Research in Sweden. A jury selects the mission to be awarded based on initiative, creativity, and value of results.
Jan worked from inside an ABB Product Group leading their global process improvements, continually seeking positive initiatives, encouraging actions while remaining true to the actual circumstances of the situation - tapping into the power of adaption and innovation already present in the organization.
Each organization is unique, so the avenues for change need to be particular to each team and each situation.
